Friday, 12th March 2010, 14::56
Global power systems company Rolls-Royce has been awarded a $75 million (£50 million) aerospace job by the US Naval Air Systems Command.
As part of the aerospace job, the firm will provide support for more than 250 engines, including Rolls-Royce AE 1107C-Liberty units which power US Air Force Special Operations Command's CV-22 Osprey aircraft among others.
Dennis Jarvi, president for defense in North America for Rolls Royce, said that the engineering job strengthens the relationship the company enjoys with US Navy, Marine Corps and Air Force customers.
"Our ability to deliver innovative support solutions allows us to improve product performance, readiness, efficiency and generate cost savings for the US forces as they accomplish their critical missions," he commented.
The total value of the aerospace job could exceed £400 million.
This comes after Rolls-Royce was awarded a seven-year TotalCare service agreement to support Aeropower's M250-powered MD 500 fleet of helicopters.
Rolls-Royce will provide Aeropower with spare engines and accessories for the aircraft.
