Ex-Davis Langdon partner takes government construction job
Tuesday, 24th November 2009, 14::03
A top construction job with the government has gone to a former Davis Landon partner, Paul Morrell OBE.
He has been appointed to the newly-created role of government chief construction adviser and he will be in charge of a Construction, Innovation and Growth team.
Mr Morrell's first job will be to oversee the Low Carbon Construction Review, which is due to report its findings in the first few months of next year.
The aim of the review is to examine how the construction industry can meet low carbon targets set by the government, as well as reporting on the broader challenges and opportunities of a low carbon future for the sector.
Along with working for construction consultancy Davis Langdon, Mr Morrell was also the deputy chairman of the Commission for Architecture and Built Environment (Cabe) and president of the British Council of Offices.
Public agency body Cabe recently published new guidelines that will force local authorities to produce a core strategy that lays out their construction aims for their area over the next 15 to 20 years.
