Aerospace jobs safeguarded in Wales thanks to three contract wins
Wednesday, 1st July 2009, 16::11
Rhayader-based company Compact Orbital Gears has safeguarded 25 aerospace jobs following three contract wins in the past four months.
The firm, which manufactures and supplies high-quality engineered products and services, has secured deals worth in excess of £1.25 million, which has also guaranteed the security of those in manufacturing engineering jobs.
Gareth La Paine, Compact Orbital Gears' chief executive, said that its bespoke service has enabled the company to create a niche market, something that has allowed it to win a series of international orders.
"Major companies, ranging from Rolls Royce, Westland Helicopters, Goodrich and Boeing now recognise that this company in the heart of mid-Wales can provide them with a complete package of design, manufacture, test and after-sales service for very specialised engineering products," he explained.
The business, which is based at Rhayader's Brynberth Enterprise Park, is one of the few organisations in the UK capable of offering its clients a wholly 'bespoke' service.
It specialises in high-speed gearboxes and rest rigs tailored to a client's specific needs.
Compact Orbital Gears says it has delivered more than 2,000 original designs at its 30,000 sq ft base.
