Our client is a global leader in the Aerospace, Defence and Space industries. They are looking for a Local Procurement Manager (Mechanisms & Structures) who is Degree (or equivalent) qualified in Mechanical Engineering to be based in their offices in the Stevenage area of Hertfordshire.

The Local Procurement Manager will be expected to define and implement the necessary best practice procurement associated with the product requirements to ensure that processes are maintained, technical requirements are understood and the product is procured to the best commercial advantage, optimal schedule and adhering quality.

The key responsibilities of the Local Procurement Manager will include -
Working with design engineering, planning and requisitioners to nominate suppliers and ensure early involvement where appropriate with ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
Liaise with engineering to identify areas of standardisation and optimal design solutions for procurement
Support the Vendor Performance activities to ensure supplier capabilities are constantly monitored and improved, including VRB and SED specifically.
Ensure that the suppliers are OTOQD (On Time On Quality Delivery)
Housekeeping to be maintained in good order in the ERP systems, specifically ensuring the best use of time for requisition processing, order monitoring, delivery date corrections and outstanding/overdue order management
Convert requisitions to Purchase Orders in the ERP systems.
Lead-times and standard costing to be maintained in the ERP systems
Invoices to be managed efficiently with accounts to ensure suppliers are paid in accordance with terms agreed.
RFQ's to be produced in accordance with processes and procedures appropriate to the product portfolio responsibilities
Supplier Approval documentation to be maintained and supported with Quality (DMQ) and Commodity Management

The successful Local Procurement Manager will have the following skills and experience -
Degree (or equivalent) qualification in Mechanical Engineering (and for preference have a similar qualification in Business Studies)
Experience in a low volume (jobbing) complex manufacturing environment
Experience in Procurement that has included demonstrable commercial abilities
Project Management experience
Ideally with demonstrable contractual knowledge and be CIPS qualified.
