We are recruiting on behalf of a large UK Electronics manufacture whose products are sold to a global market, and are looking to bring back in-house adding to their R&D team an experienced Electromechanical design engineer who will be responsible for designing cases and enclosures to house PCB’s and associated Electronic components. Currently they are utilising the experience and expertise of their suppliers who also design their cases, with increasing demands of the company’s products this is a newly created position and are open to either experience with SolidWorks and/or AutoDesk Inventor.
The successful applicant will be joining the R&D development team, where duties will involve, design for manufacture; mechanical packaging for PCB’s and Electronic control systems. Designing wiring layouts, mechanical casing/enclosures using a wide variety of materials to include plastics, rubbers and metals. The successful design engineer will be working within a Mixed R&D design team consisting of hardware, software and PCB design, you should also be confident to challenge the team with the can do’s and cannot design because of responses.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Complete ELECTRO / MECHANICAL Design of Company product range
• Produce Assembly and Piece part documentation
• Generating part information and part lists (BOMs) on the company database
• Drawing systems maintenance
• System schematics and wiring diagrams/schedules
• Support 3D Modelling
• Ability to project manage suppliers and work with external design houses
• Keep informed and supporting EMS and improvement team activities and ISO9001 – Quality and ISO14001 – Environmental requirements.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS REQUIRED:
• Previous experience in 2D and 3D design electro-mechanical units, creating all documents required for production, from guidelines specified by Design Engineers, Production and Design Control Centre.
• Confident user of SolidWorks or Inventor, essential
• Good, basic understanding of electronics, with knowledge of power electronics.
• Appreciation of modern manufacturing techniques.
• Supporting production engineering.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
• Ideally educated to HNC / HND (or equivalent) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, but would also consider time served.
• Minimum of 3 recent years’ hands on experience of electromechanical enclosure design or similar environment.
• Computer literate & a working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

• An attractive base salary of £35,000-£40,000 DPE plus company annual profit share bonus.
• Bonus paid every year as a % of annual salary last year paying 17.2% being an additional £6,020 to £6,800 addition to your basic. Company has never not paid bonus.

We are currently recruiting hardware design engineers, recent experience in developing Switch Mode Power Supplies (SMPS) is essential. Our established client is based in the North East and as part of any employment offer will fully finance any relocation costs and interviewing expenses incurred.
The successful design engineer will be joining an established growing team, developing new power supplies aimed at the global market. Products are already sold to over 120 countries worldwide within a wide largely to other electronic OEM’s as well as end users, established for more than 35 years.
Key design responsibilities will involve:
• Design and develop Switch Mode PSU’s, Invertors and convertors.
• Select and develop the appropriate technologies in developing Power supplies for the required project
• Develop initial Circuit design and hardware for allocated products, meeting design spec and cost targets within a project management environment.
• Provide feasibility studies and assist in the development and writing of product specifications and technical reports
• Testing and proving of designs to required standards, including environmental, safety and EMC
• Schematic capture of required circuitry using CADStar schematic package
Experience:
• Degree level education gained in Electronic/Electrical Engineering or equivalent
• Minimum 3 years recent design experience gained in SMPS design
• Excellent SMPS design skills with experience in the design of (Resonant / Fly back and Active PFC) converters from concept thru to mass production essential
• Experience with CADStar Schematic Capture package, or similar highly beneficial
• Understanding of SMPS PCB layout and its critical effects to, circuit and EMC performance
• Experience of working within ISO 9001 controlled document systems etc
• Low to medium voltage power supply design experience in excess of 500watts a distinct advantage.

A highly competitive basic salary between £40,000-£45,000 depending on experience. Plus company bonus last year being 17.2% (£46,880 to £52.740)

Our client is a well known established British Electronics manufacturer selling their products worldwide to over 120 countries. As a trusted named brand within the industry the successful applicant will be heavily involved with key account management and seeking new business development opportunities across virgin territories, specifying the company’s products to end users and other OEM’s in the main within the power industry.
The successful applicant will required to have: Good strong knowledge of electronics gained within the power generation industry or automation/control electronics. Ideally you will have a technical engineering / technical product related sales background.
You should also be experienced within OEM sales cycle covering company product applications, gained in either: Critical back up power supplies, Diesel Generator power systems, Power Generation, industrial battery chargers and/or UPS. We are also interested if you have a CHP background, or any relevant technical electronic control hardware sales to similar markets.
Please be aware that any candidate expressing an interest outside of the North East England will be required to relocate. Due to company policies all sales professionals are based from the company’s UK manufacturing and R&D site no matter which part of the global territory you are assigned too. The company will fully finance your relocation.
Essential experience /Skills and Knowledge:
• Established experience within a technical electronics based sales role.
• Experienced in a variety of technical sales methods
• A proven track record of improving sales and branding within a company
• Excellent organisation and planning skills
• Ability to operate under own direction as well as part of the team
• Strong knowledge of the power generation market.
Desired experience:
• Experience / knowledge of the generators, and/or combined heating and power (CHP). Experience within power generation would also be of interest.
• Technical Specification Sales to OEM and channel markets desirable
• Member of sales/electrical institute/bodies.
• Secondary language
