THE ROLE OF GRADUATE MATERIALS ENGINEER / METALLURGIST:
- You will be involved in the specification of process methodology, including determining best practice for manufacture of casting alloys to incorporate metal chemistry, metal preparation and heat treatment.
- You will help research and develop new and existing processes to provide best in class performance in our chosen products and markets, including investigating alternative aluminium alloys with higher mechanical properties and thermal conductivity at elevated temperatures.
- Key success factors, in which you will play your part, will involve: development of high performance aluminium alloys specifically for high strength powertrain products at high temperature, development of improved grain refinement, number of materials datasets completed, and number of research projects completed.
SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES NEEDED BY THE GRADUATE MATERIALS ENGINEER METALLURGIST:
- You will have a recognised formal engineering qualification im materials engineering or metallurgy or another applicable subject combined with some relevant work experience in industry (possibly via work placement) or in research.
- Above all, you will view this as a real career step and rise to the challenge in a position that will give increasing responsibility and career development.

Role
Dealing with 140 different projects at various stages of design or construction, values will range from £250k to £46m, as a commercial manager you will fulfil the role of a ‘number 2’ for a period of time, providing direct support on key commercial aspects of the major tendered projects within the asset management program (AMP5)
Key tasks and responsibilities will include
- Reporting directly to /deputising for the Framework Commercial Manager, this role involves dealing with all the major projects under the Framework
- Management of the major projects teams on day to day commercial activities and responsibility for the overall profit / loss on the major tendered projects within the AMP
- Provision of advice and guidance on commercial, contractual, risk, and procurement issues to the site teams
- Regular / frequent site visits to support the commercial teams at each of the locations below
- Collating / reviewing month end financial information for the Monthly Cost / Value Reconciliations and Quarterly Budgets.
