As a design engineer / draughtsman you will play an important part in a newly established design team. Due to expansion they now require an additional Designer / Estimator to join the team. The Designer/Estimator will be required to prepare designs and estimates using Architect's and Engineer's drawings to produce pre cast concrete floor solutions using a bespoke software design package. The post holder will have to engage with contractors and customers during the design phase and the construction process. Some visits to site to undertake measured surveys etc may be necessary. Key responsibilities of the role: Prepare drawings and calculations for Pre-Cast Components using bespoke 'Winfloor' software Produce quotations from information supplied by clients Liaise with Construction professionals such as Architects, Engineers, Contractors over the phone and via e-mail Pro-Actively follow up on issued quotations Produce Orders from all the above activities Visit sites to carry out surveys THE COMPANY: Our client is a specialist manufacturer and installer of Pre-Cast Concrete Flooring Components. Ideally you will hold experience of the Pre-Cast industry however this is not essential as product training is on offer. The Role
As a senior member of the team you will prepare designs and calculations to support the development of a wide range of traction and rolling stock products for national and overseas markets. Your responsibilities will include:
• Develop of new products working with the supply chain, customers and internal business units including other engineering departments, ensuring they meet specification, functional, design and business performance requirements.
• Involvement in the design and development of products from concept to operation including system definition, specification prototyping, manufacture, testing, installation and commissioning.
• Producing drawings, calculations, specifications and technical reports including performance and failure investigation for a wide variety of products.
• Support and develop other design engineers within the products team and deputise for the development manager as required.

The Person
You will be educated to degree level or equivalent in an engineering discipline and will have previous design experience, ideally gained within a railway engineering environment. You will also have:
• A background in product design and development.
• Experienced in the use of CAD systems (2D & 3D).
• Knowledge and use of industry standards.
• Experience of working internationally and language skills will be an advantage but are not essential.
• A robust personality with the ability to work well and contribute effectively as a member of a high performance team.

Design Engineer A leading precision Engineering company is currently looking to recruit a Design Engineer to add to their team. With an site in Egham, Surrey the company specialise in the design of small, complex mechanisms used across a range of industry sectors including (aerospace, defence, oil and gas, automotive, special purpose machinery etc). Our client based in Didcot have a vacancy exists in the Engineering and Technology Group for a Control System Design Engineer. The Engineering and Technology Group provides engineering and technical expertise essential to the running of the laser facilities at the CLF, for the experimental programmes on these facilities and R&D activities within the CLF.
The post holder will be required to develop hardware and software (EPICS) systems which are used for laser control applications. They will be responsible to the Electrical Section Leader for their overall duties.
The duties include:
Develop laser control systems using professional development tools and techniques, producing all relevant documentation.
Develop software for laser diagnostic equipment.
Improve system data collection and processing.
Maintain and develop Subversion and Trac configuration management system.
Keep up to date records and documentation of software.
Applicants should have a degree qualification in a Software or Electronics related subject and have experience of managing and developing hardware and software systems for large scale applications as well as recent experience of working in a technically challenging environment.
Applicants should have knowledge of the use and support of configuration management systems.
Applicants should be experienced programmers with working knowledge of EPICS.
A willingness to work in a flexible way to ensure the efficient operation of the equipment in support of the project programme is essential. The successful candidate will have good interpersonal skills, be able to work in a multi-disciplinary team, be self-motivated, flexible and reliable.
