Manufacturing Engineer
Manufacturing engineer focused on scale-up of the fuel cell manufacturing equipment and processes. Research, investigate and develop new and existing manufacturing solutions for High Volume Manufacture, whilst providing engineering support to current processes.

Key Accountabilities:
• Manufacturing engineering of the Fuel Cells
• Organise parts, building and paperwork for prototypes
• Interface with engineering, test and systems
• Set up production cells
• Keep up to date on technology and products
• Research and investigate new solutions to manufacturing problems.
• Develop current manufacturing processes and product for High Volume Manufacturability
• Assist in the acquisition of new equipment, including planning for delivery and commissioning
• Develop supplier relationships
• Assist in the design of production intent tooling and fixtures
• Provide support for manufacturing operations
• Liaise with manufacturing operations and research and development to solve problems
• Ensure equipment performs within the expected ranges of performance, troubleshooting those that do not

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:
• BEng or HND in Manufacturing Engineering with a minimum of 5 years experience
• Hands on engineer
• Detail understanding of ‘Design for Manufacture’
• Aptitude for mechanical work including the understanding of basic mechanical processes
• Experienced in the design of fixtures and tooling
• Experienced in using SPC, and DOE for process control
and development
• Good communication skills, both verbal and written
• H&S understanding
• AutoCad & Pro Engineer

This position requires extensive experience within an assembly Manufacturing environment as a Manufacturing Engineer.

Evaluating best manufacturing practices; understanding the root causes of lost time, poor performance and field failures. A good understanding of best working practices so that products can be efficiently developed from design through product development and into efficient production methods.

KEY DELIVERABLES:
 Product cost reduction with process capability

ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
 Experience of low volume and batch production environments
 Experience of DFM and DFx
 Lean Six Sigma experience
 Knowledge of engineering components (BOMs, Ops and Routings)
 Excellent computer skills (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, email, ERP)
 Determined, with a high level of initiative and energy
 Proven leader of change to drive business measurements
 Excellent communication skills
 Self-motivated and customer-orientated

You will manage the transfer of new design products to manufacturing and will follow products from process design and development through to validation and documentation, ensuring a design is suitable for manufacture and assembly and evaluating customer drawings, whilst developing assembly processes and associated jigs and fixtures and performing manufacturing process validations, IQ/OQ/PQ and other quality requirements to support the development of new medical sector related devices, and will document activity such as drawings, testing, verification and calculations for retention by the quality team.

To be considered for this varied and challenging role, it is envisaged that the successful candidate will ideally be degree qualified in a mechanical or engineering related discipline, and will ideally have gained previous experience within a sheet metal environment.
