Our Client is looking for a Land Quality Consultant to join the Land and Water Management team in London.

The role will involve office and field based work primarily in the south of England although may involve projects throughout the UK and overseas, so a willingness to travel would be required. Initially the role is likely to be predominantly field based. EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS:

Applicants should possess an undergraduate degree in a relevant subject (Earth Science, Chemistry, Environmental or Engineering related discipline)
An MSc in a relevant subject would be desirable
Full driving licence is essential

Experience in land quality assessment, preferably including fieldwork with a working knowledge of site investigation and monitoring techniques

The successful candidate will perform the following roles:

Geotechnical design for foundations, retaining structures, and earthworks, including use of Eurocode 7
Preparation of geotechnical specifications, including earthworks and foundations, ideally also with construction supervision experience
Planning and management of ground investigations, including scoping and preparing specifications and contract documentation, supervision and interpretation
Logging of soil and rock to BS5930/Eurocode 7
Supervising and co-ordinating the work of others and co-ordinating with engineers of other disciplines
Managing project teams to ensure production of deliverables to agreed timelines and within budget, providing technical guidance and mentoring to junior members of the team

You will be required to have the following skills:

Good general geotechnical design skills and the ability to demonstrate a good knowledge and understanding of geotechnical engineering and design principles
Excellent planning, organisational and time management skills
Excellent report writing and written and verbal communication skills
Appreciation of contaminated land/waste management issues would also be an advantage
Academic requirements include a minimum of a BEng in Civil Engineering or a BSc in Geological Sciences ideally supplemented with an MSc in Geotechnical Engineering or Engineering Geology
Candidates should be Professionally Chartered or close to achieving Professional Chartership
