Exploration Geoscientist - Operator
London
£Competitive Remuneration
Global operator with pivotal positions in some of the world’s most significant conventional offshore basins, including the UK North Sea, offshore West Africa, the United States and Western Canada, is recruiting an Exploration Geoscientist to their UK subsurface team.
They are regarded as one of the largest oil producers in the North Sea – they have more than doubled their proved reserves in this region since 2004 – and have committed to further exploration in this area. More so, their FPSO operations in West Africa are expected to yield high-margin production and they are one of the largest leaseholders in the Gulf of Mexico.
As an Exploration Geoscientist you would be responsible for generating prospects and appraisal evaluations using geophysical skills. This would include evaluating exploration opportunities to the highest standard, interpreting a variety of 2D or 3D seismic data, the preparation of time and depth maps, assisting in the co-ordination and monitoring of outsourced geophysical projects, providing geophysical input and technical assessments to prepare drilling prospects and the utilisation of risk analysis and concept software. Furthermore, as an Exploration Geoscientist you would be expected to collaborate with others in the team and look for opportunities to leverage their network and work with others to develop safe, practical and effective solutions.
The successful Exploration Geoscientist will have a MSc in Geology or Geophysics and currently be working as a Geoscientist in a similar role with proven exploration experience. Ideally the Exploration Geoscientist will be able to demonstrate experience in basin and play analysis, prospect generation and volumetric/risking as well as be able to communicate on a cross disciplinary level.
This Operator encourages career development and is known for their commitment to investing in incumbent staff. In addition to training opportunities they offer a highly competitive basic salary and package.
