Our client is an established engineering manufacturer based in Leeds, West Yorkshire. They are now recruiting for a Mechanical Design Engineer, who will have exposure to production, purchasing and planning.

Mechanical Design Engineer Candidate Ideal:
• Experience working in an engineering (mass) production company.
• Have knowledge of production planning, MRP and labour planning.
• Have a knowledge of steel grades.
• Have experience purchasing engineered components.
• Possess a BEng in Mechanical/Production Engineering or equivalent.

Mechanical Design Engineer Role
The role will require the candidate to provide cover for the production planner and be responsible for purchasing of non-stock items. They suitable candidate will be responsible for mechanical design of products and equipment and look at the design and maintenance of production machinery. They will need to look analytically at the mechanical aspects of customer complaints. It is a varied and interesting role looking at design, purchasing, quality and production planning.

Mechanical Design Engineer Essential Skills
BEng in Mechanical/Production Engineering or equivalent
Extensive knowledge of Microsoft products (Excel, Word, Visio)
Experience of Javelin Business or a business system running MRP
Knowledge of 3D Modelling Software (Inventor, Catia, Solid Works…)
Have detailed understanding of engineering manufacturing drawings
Have an understanding of steel grades and heat treatment process
Have experience with gauging and measurement of precision machined components
Demonstrate good communication skills
Organised and able to plan ahead
Knowledge of quality improvement initiatives such as Six Sigma, Kaizen

Mechanical Design Engineer Desired Skills
Knowledge of plastic or cast iron/steel materials
Additional Languages (Chinese/Arabic/French/Spanish/German)

Mechanical Design Engineer Salary £20,000 - £30,000 plus benefits.
Hours of Work - 8.00am - 4.30pm Monday – Thursday , 8.00am-1pm Friday.

They are a medium sized practice of specialist building services consulting engineers with a broad expertise across all sectors of the industry and in particular education, healthcare, commercial, residential and retail. My Client is looking to recruit an experienced Automotive Electrical Design Manager with knowledge of vehicle electrical system design (including Harness) and possessing the skills to manage the electrical design engineering team.
