The job is primarily testing electrical and electronic equipment before shipment to customers. There will be a minor element of mechanical or electro-mechanical testing involved as well.

Proven background with written test plans, test reports, technical justification documents. Performed testing to numerous EMC, RF and environmental standards. FCC certificate desirable.
You must be from EMC environment and able to resolve test issues and advise on standards interpretations. Familiar with EMC testing techniques is essential and radio approvals is beneficial as well as some of the following; R&TTE, The Radio and Telecommunications Terminal Equipment Directive requirements for wide range of radio products.

Our client requires a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to:
• Undertake the design, development and documentation of the Mechanical Engineering aspects of new products to achieve the required performance and cost parameters within the agreed project timeframes
• Provide technical support to the mechanical design and development engineers
• Provide support and development for existing products
KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Taking a leading role and being responsible for the mechanical concept development phase of new products and follow-on design and development activities as assigned by and agreed with the Engineering Manager
• Assist the Engineering Manager in the development of mechanical concepts, plans, specifications, technical expertise and ideas for new products that may in time become approved projects for the engineering teams
• To generate 3D/2D CAD models & files and the necessary manufacturing drawings, artworks, process specifications and project documentation and their authorised release in accordance with the company procedures
• To maintain the Engineering Dept. mechanical CAD and related systems
• To perform a project and people leadership role as and when required to ensure assigned activities are completed thoroughly and on time
• To design and develop mechanical systems and assemblies in support of new and existing products
• To evaluate and test those parts, products and assemblies within your control
• To undertake legislative product approvals testing and to compile any required reports/application documentation and to liase with Approvals Agencies as required to achieve product compliance
• Identify new technology and processes to enhance future and current products and to increase product profitability
• Exercise Design Authority judgement over those aspects of mechanical design and/or manufacturing concessions within your control in the best interest of the company and the customer
• To investigate manufacturing/production problems and to implement remedial measures as appropriate
• To liase with relevant staff throughout the company as and when required.
• To liase with suppliers to resolve problems and ensure the timely and correct introduction of new designs and processes
• To implement Drawing Change Notes as and when necessary to support the introduction of new products and the maintenance of existing products
• To monitor, control and report technical progress and costs on those tasks and work packages within your control
• To compile and maintain Project Documentation files and records to the defined company standards
• To produce reports, papers, specifications, handbook drafts and other documentation as necessary to support the above activities
You will need:
• Degree or HNC/HND in Mechanical Industrial Design
• Knowledge of plastics/sheet metal/castings type environment
• Creative & aesthetic design work as well functional mechanical solutions
• Experience of graphics and artwork generations
• Design life-cycle (concept to production) within an ISO 9001/9100 or similar quality environment
• High and Low volume design for Commercial and Leisure markets

The STEM Academy at BCoT is looking to recruit an experienced mechanical engineer to work as a workshop technician in their mechanical engineering workshop.
The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of industry experience of working with mechanical mills, lathes and turns and preferably be proficient at routine fault finding, maintenance and repair of these machines. You will also be expected to prepare materials for mechanical engineering classes which operate at the college.

Main duties:
• Act as technician support for teaching staff including demonstration where necessary. Prepare materials for staff in advance of set work.
• Provide technical assistance in connection with students work as directed by lecturing staff.
• Supervise workshop provision for engineering students.
• Develop and operate a recording and booking system for equipment and materials and be responsible for both stock control and security of these items.
• Be responsible for the effective, clean and safe daily operational function of studios, equipment and material, their maintenance and security adhering to health and safety legislation at all times.
• Maintain an inventory for equipment in accordance with financial procedures and regulations.
• Receive and check all deliveries for Engineering equipment, store and distribute appropriately.
• Ensure the safe operation and maintenance of workshop equipment.
• Liaise with other staff to assist with the implementation of departmental systems and initiatives. Take part in staff development and the ongoing updating of technical skills.
• Assist staff and students working in the Engineering Department in the practical display aspects of exhibitions and those assessments requiring exhibitions.
• Run taster days/workshops with external parties. Liaise with staff to assist with the implementation of school systems and activities.
• To be the department Health & Safety rep (training will be provided).
• Take part in staff development and performance management setting own targets and keeping BlueSky up-to-date
