CAD Engineering Designer
St Albans
3 Year Contract
25 - 28/hour
ASAP Start

This role is to supply CAD and machine shop mechanical engineering expertise capable of designing, developing and
manufacturing a broad range of mechanical engineering assemblies and components. The ability to rapidly generate ideas,
produce technical documentation and manufacture engineering products in a machine shop environment, drawing on industrial
experience. Delivering on time, to cost and to quality standards specified.

Requirements

oProduce detailed working drawings in 2D and 3D CAD using SolidWorks software
oDesign, development, technical documentation and rapid prototyping of mechanical engineering assemblies and components
oAssist with the documentation and archiving of electronic and mechanical designs
oProduce detailed manufacturing guides and assist with the production of operating manuals
oOperate in-house rapid prototyping system
oHelp develop and implement best-practice standards for product data management.
oWork closely with machine shop-based technicians to define and document designs.
oKnowledge of engineering fits and tolerances.
oEnsure rapid prototype machine, associated equipment and CAD room are kept clean and tidy. oAssist on maintenance when
required.

Skills

Essential
*SolidWorks 3D CAD software skills.
*Knowledge and demonstrable skills of technical drawing to BS8888/BS308.
*AutoCAD 2D skills.
*Properties of engineering materials including metals, plastics and timber.
*Knowledge of conventional manufacturing techniques.
*Rapid Prototyping techniques.
*Knowledge of precision engineering fits and tolerances.
*Mechanical engineering concept generation, ideas and problem solving.

Desirable
*Ideally HNC/HND Mechanical Engineering/Production Engineering or equivalent.
*Demonstrable skills using FDM rapid prototyping.
*Knowledge of CAM and FEA.
