June 2009 start planned for Sheffield construction jobs Construction jobs on an historic building in Sheffield are due to begin next year after the appointment of a preferred bidder for the scheme, it has been revealed.

The Sheffield Telegraph reports HBG Construction is set to oversee the renovation of the Arts Tower at Sheffield University from June.

According to the newspaper, the completion of the construction jobs will result in the structure dominating the city's skyline.

Neil Cameron, director of estates at the university, told the publication: "Along with HBG Construction, we will remain committed to restoring and preserving its architectural heritage, while at the same time ensuring that it meets the future needs of our staff and students."

Meanwhile, Construction News recently revealed developer Wilson Bowden has sold J1 Riverside Exchange to clients of Danmerc in a deal worth over £19 million.

The waterfront scheme is near Sheffield city centre and is a 75,610 sq ft project which is part of a wider nine-acre development.
