Civil engineering jobs to show Olympic excellence - 19-08-2008 - 16:48
Civil engineering jobs to show Olympic excellence The UK should use the 2012 Olympic Games civil engineering jobsto demonstrate its expertise in the sector, it has been claimed.

Writing in The Engineer, Andrew Lee, the publication's editor, said innovative developments in the industry could showcase UK talent off the track in four years time.

He claimed that focus will be placed on the UK's civil engineering and construction sectors as the Games approach, with it believed they will be able to match the achievements of China in terms of quality and efficiency.

"If the ingenuity of our technical innovators does bring medal success to the UK in four years' time, that would be one of our enduring strengths worthy of celebration," Mr Lee explained in the article.

The 2008 Beijing Olympics have shown that China has poured "unprecedented resources" into creating large developments, he added, with UK expected to perform just as well with its smaller civil engineering and construction jobs.

Earlier this month, the Olympic Delivery Authority suggested the benefits of construction jobs at the development will be felt ahead of the Games start due to the transport improvements which are being made in the area.
