New construction jobs for Isle of Wight - 08-10-2008 - 14:38
New construction jobs for Isle of Wight New construction jobs are being provided on the Isle of Wight as building work gets underway on an iconic Chinese restaurant.

Work has already begun on the £500,000 Beijing Palace Chinese Restaurant in Ryde, with local developers LV Construction hoping that the restaurant will be open for business in March next year.

Commenting on the project, LV Construction company director Liam Verstraeten said: "Winning this contract means jobs are created for the Island and money paid into the Island’s economy as a result will largely stay on the Isle of Wight."

The restaurant build has created a number of construction sector jobs on the Island, with surveyors and architects being in demand as well as site workers. The new building promises to be impressive, with the roof incorporating an element of traditional Chinese design.

The original thatched Beijing Palace building burnt down two years ago, and was known as Thatcher's End before the Hang family took over the business in 2003.
