Our client is looking for an engineer with both technical and practical civil and structural experience. They are a major insurer whose London office has a construction book of around two hundred projects and is the company’s centre of excellence for this type of work. You will be joining a team of four underwriters to provide dedicated technical/ construction expertise with a focus on major international building projects ( multi-storey buildings, stadia, airports etc) and occasionally you will be asked to advise on civil/structural aspects of oil & gas/ energy projects. You will be predominantly based in the City and will make occasional overseas visits as you will usually be required to visit a site twice during the construction period to identify the need for risk management improvements and to complete a report on progress. You will carry out technical reviews and advise the underwriters in London and occasionally representatives from other overseas offices provide technical input on claims and review loss adjuster’s reports to identify areas for claims mitigation and lessons learned, participate in new and renewal business development.
