The Shift Technician will be responsible for all maintenance activities within a continuous production cell of 10-12 high speed production and packing lines - carrying out both breakdown and planned maintenance to ensure that all items of plant and equipment are maintained to the appropriate standards whilst ensuring that their performance is safe, reliable and in accordance with the principles of Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP). They are also involved in continuous improvement projects to support the development of the Manufacturing Facility and contribute to the Supply function meeting it’s customer service, quality and cost targets.

Key Responsibilities:
- PPM and breakdown maintenance in accordance with the principles of cGMP (current Good Manufacturing Practice)
- Monitor operational efficiency, reliability and capability of all plant and equipment, identifying areas of under performance or opportunity and implement plans to deliver improvement
- Participate effectively in weekly maintenance review and planning meetings
- Ensure that a uniform approach to maintenance is implemented across shifts
- Monitor and control maintenance spend to meet annual budgets and ensure value for money is obtained
- Diagnose and rectify problems with manufacturing equipment and systems
- Understand the maintenance requirements in the area, and ensure that maintenance is delivered using a proactive, responsive, customer focussed approach with effective application of the maintenance system and good engineering practice
- Agree preventative maintenance plans, routine remedial action, machine design modifications, and operating & changeover procedures with Manufacturing Maintenance and Operations teams
- Use the computerised maintenance system to ensure that all agreed maintenance and improvement work is completed and ensure accurate and timely feedback of all tasks performed.
- Ensure that procedures, as defined in the Manufacturing Maintenance Manual, are correctly implemented in area, and that the “Line Maintenance Manuals” are kept up to date
- Comply with maintenance systems and procedures, including those regarding Health and Safety, Environment and Quality assurance.
- Participate in the planning and execution of training for self, other team members and manufacturing staff.
- Ensure a balance of time is spent on improvement as well as fire fighting or day to day tasks
- Ensure maintenance works planned to minimise impact on production operations and have no impact on customer service.
- Ensure always up to date with new technologies and their potential application

Applicants should be apprentice trained with previous maintenance experience within a continuous production environment. An understanding of related controls and instrumentation systems would be an advantage. Previous working knowledge and understanding of manufacturing process and cGMP requirements is also beneficial.

FIELD SERVICE ENGINEER

Maintenance, service and installation of Electrical / Mechanical materials handling equipment; automated conveyors, cranes, sortation systems and associated equipment. Predominantly covering the UK but from time to time will be required to work abroad (France, Belgium, Ireland, South Africa, and Saudi Arabia). This is however the exception and the longest stay away would be 2 weeks.

Main duties:
- Service, repair and modification of automated materials handling equipment.
- Installation, commissioning and fault-finding PLC control systems. (Telemechanique and
Siemens S5, S7)
- Use of PLCs to diagnose and recover faults
- PLC modifications and basic programming (experience in this field is highly desirable but training will be given if necessary)

Applicants should be multi skilled with an electrical control bias. Good inter personal skills and the ability to liaise with customers is essential. A clean UK driving licence is also a must.
