A Development Engineer is now required to join the Pyrotechnics department of this world leader in the producer of expendable decoy countermeasures for protecting air, sea and land platforms against guided missile threats. As Development Engineer you will assist in the design, development and qualification of new or existing pyrotechnic products under the guidance of the Engineering and Technology Manager or other senior development staff. You will develop pyrotechnic systems, assemblies, sub-assemblies and components and provide technical support to other business areas including Manufacturing and Q&BI.
The Pyrotechnics department designs and develops new and existing pyrotechnic products to meet customer requirements including value engineering. As Development Engineer your main responsibilities will include developing pyrotechnic systems, assemblies, sub assemblies and components in support of new, modified or existing products under the guidance of the Senior Development Engineer and other senior development staff. You will maintain design records primarily in the form of Project Design Files, as well as prepare and modify scheme, detail and assembly drawings using 2D/3D CAD packages. You will also produce technical reports, papers, specifications, test plans, handbooks, product markings and maintain build standards of products under test and other design related documentation in PDF.
Successful candidates will be qualified to at least HND level or equivalent in an engineering discipline. You will have previous knowledge of new product design and development and ISO 9001 standards. Knowledge of plastic mouldings, extrusions, pressings and other materials and processes appropriate to the pyrotechnic industry is also required. Product development experience in a medium / high volume manufacturing environment, ideally gained within the pyrotechnic and explosives industry is also essential for this

As Product Support Engineer you will be the department’s technical representative for problem resolution with all MoDs Pyrotechnic Stores.
The successful candidate will be HND qualified in Engineering or related discipline. Experience of Product Design/Development in accordance with established processes; problem solving techniques for example Root Cause Analysis; design of experiments cause/effect diagrams etc and experience /knowledge of explosives/dangerous goods are necessary.
Your responsibilities will include maintaining a good working relationship with the MoD customer; liaising with the MoD customer representative regarding all in-service product concerns and maintaining a problem priority list.
