This world-renowned organisation is seeking to recruit a high calibre, self-motivated professional Proposals Engineer looking to work with an existing business development team. Reporting to the Proposals Manager, you will assist with the management and coordination of bidding activity for consultancy contracts for some divisions of the company. As a world leader in infrastructure and power engineering, they provide a wide range of energy related services to both public and private sector clients.
As a Proposals Engineer, you should have experience of power transmission and/or distribution. Ideally, you will be degree qualified in Electrical Engineering and previous experience in business development would be advantageous, although not necessary.
You may have the responsibility of assisting with the preparation of Expressions of Interest, Pre-Qualifications and Proposals in accordance with company procedures; assisting with the review and follow up of market intelligence. You will attend internal management approval meetings when required; and work with various Group Managers to develop new business. Moreover, you may be asked to assist and provide guidance for the maintenance and productions of specific marketing related materials such as capability statements, experience lists, CVs and project sheets; and liaise with both internal and external clients and partner organisations.
To succeed as Proposals Engineer you should be an Electrical Engineer with experience of power transmission and/or distribution. Experience in business development is not essential.
The successful candidate should be able to deal comfortably with a large number of differing technical inputs; an excellent ability in written English and its application in an engineering environment. You should be able to communicate easily with both technical and non-technical staff
COMMODITY MANAGER

As Commodity Manager, you will be required to manage defined commodities within the scope of the Sourcing Process. This will include the analysis of spend, the formulation of and implementation of commodity strategies, the negotiation of contracts and the ongoing management of strategic supplier relationships. You will be accountable for the commercial nature of all relationships with UK suppliers and may also be responsible for a specific commodity for the group worldwide.
As part of the Enterprise sourcing team, you will be able to lead negotiations with key suppliers and stake holders. You will be expected to deliver cost savings in line with annual targets for the commodity. You will ensure material cost drivers are understood and visible to the project teams/engineers and you will create and manage strategic breakthrough strategies for a pre-defined commodity portfolio. You will manage contract negotiations which will encompass Customer Flow Down, Long Term Agreements, Frame Work Agreements (Enterprise and/or BU), and Price Agreements. Where appropriate, you will also contribute to the design process to ensure DFM, DTC and DFA realize the lowest cost options. You will manage Strategic relationships with Commodity Suppliers. You will ensure that prototype and initial production parts are available on time, realising opportunities to compress lead times and reduce time to market. You will use design to cost methodology and Value Analysis and Value Engineering.
Overall, you will be expected to deliver improvements in cost reduction, on time delivery, risk, quality of delivered parts, spend % in LCC, spend % covered by Frame Agreements, spend % covered by multi-site supplier and lead time reduction.
Maintenance Manager West Midlands
£35,000-£40,000 basic + company bonus + pension
Superb opportunity to join a growing consultancy as a in house maintenance manager/consultant. This opportunity allows you to use your skills in a pro-active business change role.
Role Description
Working on the client site this a challenging and rewarding position. Implementing maintenance schedules your remit will be to make rapid improvements in the plant performance within the allocated time period. Acting as a catalyst for change the position requires excellent customer relationship management skills as well as the understanding of all the 'lean tools'. Knowledge of condition based monitoring, PPM's, and maintenance reviews is a key part of the role. Management of 8 staff member is required.
Experience required
With a career background in maintenance you will have been a supervisor of manager in an engineering environment. Specific qualification are less important than the desire to make an impact on a business.
Strong man- management skills and an analytical approach to problem solving are key competences in this role.
