Process Control and Automation Engineer - Slough

Role Description
The controls engineer will be responsible for all of the automation elements of a range of capital projects within a manufacturing facility. There will be multiple projects with various values to manage. These projects are for installations, relocations and renovations of process plant for chemical production. The controls systems will need to be completely overhauled and this will be solely managed by this person. The automation engineer will be responsible for the full life cycles of the projects from conception to completion and handover.

Required Experience
The right person for the job will have a background in controls and instrumentation engineering, preferably with good qualifications along with experience. The controls engineer will have been in charge of projects within manufacturing environments and be an expert in the fields of SCADA, PLCs and DCS systems. The role will involve programming off the shelf controls and working with integrations 3rd parties to create bespoke solutions. Health and safety is also extremely important in this role and the right person for the job will have an excellent understanding and attitude towards this.

Role:
My client currently seeks a Control & Instrumentation Engineer prepared to take on the responsibility for carrying out maintenance and calibration work as required. Reporting to the Project Engineering Manager, the successful candidate will support the implementation of continuous improvement including planned and preventative maintenance programmes on a site wide basis, whilst also becoming involved in a number of plant modifications and improvements.

The ideal candidate will have experience in process and manufacturing industries and will have gained significant exposure to the maintenance and improvement of process instrumentation.

Key Responsibilities:

Planned and reactive maintenance duties
Continuous improvement initiatives
Plant improvement projects and equipment changeovers
Additionally the Control & Instrumentation Engineer will undertake calibration duties required to maintain the clients process control instrumentation

Required Experience and Main Skills:

Candidates must have a minimum of 3 years process / maintenance plant experience combined with a recognised instrument apprenticeship or equivalent. Be time-served or formally trained Mechanical or Electrical Engineers or Instrumentation Engineer who can demonstrate proven track record within an engineering environment . Demonstrate a detailed working knowledge of mechanical and/or electrical principals of machinery
Have experience of calibration for instrumentation role.

Salary & Location: £17,000-£22,000.

Role Description: The Service Engineer will be site based and will be involved in the service, maintenance and fault finding of industrial washing machines. The equipment is electro-mechanical and involves electro-mechanical fault finding, electronic board swaps, 3 phase electrics, electrical installation and wiring so an understanding of the use of these would be advantageous.

Required Experience: The field service engineer will need to have experience in fault finding on electrical and mechanical systems related with capital equipment. An engineering qualification is not essential however the successful candidate will need to demonstrate sound fault finding ability on both electrical and mechanical systems.
This opportunity is not only open to those from within the industrial washing machines industry but the experience would be advantageous.

Benefits Package:

£28,000 earning potential. Site Based. Monday to Friday, 20 days holiday.

Our client is a well established manufacturer of industrial washing machines. The UK division employs over a hundred staff that sell and service the equipment nationwide. Due to new long term contracts being awarded they require a service engineer to start as soon as possible. You will provided with all tools and training.
The role of the Service Engineer will be to service and breakdown repairs on complex industrial washing systems. Based on site the work will be repairing pneumatics, hydraulics, single and 3 phase electrics with PLC integrated controls. Occasionally you will work in teams to carry out major installations.
