Project Team Leader - North

Project Team Leader (TSDS) - required for this leading defence company. MOD Security Clerance Criteria applies to this vacancy and all applicants must be eligible to live and work in the UK.

The Tank System Design Services is a multi disciplined team working closely with the MoD on post design solutions and modifications for CR2, CrARRV, Engineering Vehicles and related support equipment and publications.

The ideal candidate shall show the following attributes:
A good technical understanding of the operational and engineering functionality of Cr2, CrARRV,
ETS, derivatives and support equipment; Excellent Report writing, project planning and control utilizing office skills such Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Project; A good understanding of Project financial requirements including control of budgets, prediction of project margins and sales forecasting; A good Knowledge of MoD organisations and publications; Be self motivated and be able to work with the minimum of supervision within a team environment; Have a good working knowledge of the SAP business system.

Reporting to the TSDS Project Manager the Team Leader will be responsible for coordinating the team in their development of Design and Development solutions to a range of tasks authorised by the MoD. The team leader will be responsible for reporting team progress to all parties and monitoring costs to ensure project budgets are accurately predicted and margins maintained.


Key responsibility areas
Assist with the Project Management of all aspects of the team, supervising their planning and
monitoring budgetary control of tasks using the companys business project management tools.
Ensuring the team maintain and update a control mechanism to inform the customer regarding
task progress. When required, represent the company as Design Authority for platforms, derivatives and support equipment. Supervise the team in their co-ordination of sub-contractors.

Engineering Performance Lead - Newcastle

Engineering Performance Lead required for this leading defence company. This role will require candidates to be eligible to work in the UK and to be able to meet strict MOD security clearance criteria. This position closes on 18th April 2008.

ESSENTIAL - Candidates need to have a degree or equivalent engineering experience.. Knowledge of Design for 6 Sigma and Design for X processes is desired. Product Development Experience
Experience of Systems Lifecycle Management processes, in particular the core Engineering Processes LM05/01, and associated Land Systems BMS is essential
Knowledge and experience of BS8887, BS8888 & BS8889 is required
A background in military vehicle systems engineering is preferred
Proficiency in the use of Engineering tools such as PDM, 3D CAD, CAE & Systems Engineering is desired
Demonstrate good interpersonal skills, verbal/written communication skills.
Demonstrate a self motivated approach and ability to work as a key team player.
Interact with and influence department/project team members and frequent contact with internal customers and suppliers.

Must be Mobile and able to travel when required - Can be based in either Newcastle or Leicester, but travel to other Land Systems sites will also be required.
Looking for a person that can hit the ground running with regard to product development experience, Someone who is able to learn quickly and is a people person as well as being process driven - no 'back room' people please as they need to be able to develop sound relationships quickly at all levels throughout the organisation.

This position requires responsibility for:

Formulation of a coherent strategy for the implementation of metrics in all Land Systems Engineering projects.
Identify and implement, as appropriate, international and national best practice measurement techniques such as 6 Sigma
Identify areas for improvement and initiate improvement programmes, using measures and statistical analysis to demonstrat
