Civil Design Project Manager - Birmingham

Role Description
The Civil Project Design Manager will be running large rail and civil projects on a nationwide level. Reporting to the regional Director, the Civil Design Project Manager will be responsible for the management of the Designers and contractors, as well as orchestrating the commercial outcomes of the project. The Civil Project Manager will be required to liaise with all areas of the project from start to completion.
Required Experience
Must have a background in Civil Engineering or Construction with at least 3 years experience in a project management role. A design background is essential. Client and internal liaison is a key part to this role, so you need to be able to communicate at all levels and handle the pressure accordingly. You must be proficient at running projects both on the commercial and operational side.
Salary and Benefits
This role offers a generous salary range of £35,00 - £40,000 per annum plus an excellent pension scheme and flexible benefits. Salary is dependent on experience and competence at interview.

PROJECT DESIGN ENGINEER - Overhead Line & Cable design

- Act as Lead Design Engineer or Design Engineer as directed by the Design Manager or Detail Design Manager.
- Analyse contract documents to ensure correct interpretation of customers/consultants intentions.
- Design safe systems, defined as the integrated structure / line / civil works, so that they may be supplied and constructed in accordance with contract documents and / or current practices. Assist in analysis and resolution of design problems.
- Provide designs, volumes and quantities as required for the estimated & target cost submissions such that upon acceptance, the budget, programme and specification can be achieved.
- Attend tests, as required, to verify the suitability of design. Provide necessary calculations and / or reports to justify test loads and results. Assist in analysis of test failures.
- Ensure that any drawings produced represent the design as intended.
- Correspond as directed with the Business functions, customer, consultant, vendor (sub-contractor) to ensure the achievement of satisfactory progress and quality. Visit sites and offices (home and overseas) to discuss and solve problem issues, as appropriate.
- Liaise with the appropriate personnel to achieve optimum construction, erection and installation procedures.
- Ensure that Procedures and Manuals provided for compliance with the appropriate Quality Assurance Standards are applied and participate in their maintenance.
- Undertake training as required to enable effective achievement of objectives. Assist in training other designers when requested.
- Liaise with Development Section regarding development of and updates to computer programmes and assist in analysis of new design concepts.
Applicants should be degree qualified with with formal training in Civil, Structural or Mechanical Engineering. Ideally with Chartered or Incorporated membership of ICE, IStructE, IMechE or IET, or working towards membership
Previous experience of HV or EHV Overhead Line or Cable design & construction along with experience of an element of OHL or Cable design.
Should also be familiar with UK, European &/or International design codes & standards for the Electricity Supply Industry, e.g. National Grid or ENA Technical Specifications, BS EN 50341 or IEC 60826 and IEC Standards in general.
STRUCTURAL DESIGN ENGINEER

Specific Responsibilities:

Liaise with the appropriate personnel to achieve optimum construction, erection and installation procedures.
Ensure that Procedures developed in compliance with the appropriate Quality Assurance Standards are applied and participate in their maintenance.
Assist in training of new designers and/or trainees. Undertake training as required to enable effective achievement of other objectives.

Ambitious Site Engineer for £Multi- Million Highway Project!

Role Description:
A Site Engineer is required for a £75 million civil Highways project. You will be working for a prestigious main contractor on the challenging M40 Junction 15 Projects. Your day to day role will include;
- Setting out, using Total station,
- Working on drainage and foundations
- Reading designs
- Liaising with sub contractors.
You will be stationed on this project for a minimum of a year afterwards moving on to a new project on the A46. This is a fantastic opportunity for ambitious civil engineers to progress their careers on £multi million projects!
Required experience:
Civil qualification is required be it ONC, HND, HNC or Degree qualified. This is in conjunction with good experience of site engineering in a heavy civil engineering environment, a years experience as a minimum.

CRE - Trackside Civils
Rate: £350 per day
Duration: 8 months (min)
Location: Rugby
Role:
CRE on trackside civil works in the midlands. Approval of Work Package Plans based around piling, foundations, signal and gantry bases, OLE structures. Based in Rugby.
Experience:
Either relevant Civil Engineering Qualification or experience in rail related civil engineering projects. Must be able to read/interpret technical drawings, liaise with design teams, sub-contractors and clients to approve plans in a timely, organised manner.
