Based in either Loughborough or Newcastle, as Technical Engineer you should hold a degree or Masters in Civil, Mechanical or Geotechnical Engineering or possess the equivalent level of relevant geotechnical experience.

The Technical Engineer will require knowledge of soil – structure interaction as well as familiarity with site investigation techniques including percussive and rotary core drilling and in-situ testing procedures. Successful candidates will possess practical experience with laboratory testing techniques including strength of soils. Knowledge of Eurocode 7 and the ability to carry out excavation and foundation analysis is necessary. Also essential is an understanding of geological hazards including landslips and mining subsidence as well as knowledge of pipeline stress analysis software, including Caesar 2. An understanding of pipe ring statics including estimation of load on ring, selection deformation and stress calculation is also a requisite for this role. As part of their role, the Technical Engineer will also need the ability to construct numerical models from as-laid drawings, on-line inspection data and CAD interfaces. Familiarity with/awareness of IGE/TD/1, ASME B31.3 & 31.8, BS8010 parts 1 & 2, NEN3650 codes would be highly desirable. Good report writing skills as well as customer communication/liaison skills are also important for this role.
