The department is responsible for installing new speed monitoring equipment by the road side basically within the M25, which includes the installation of rack based equipment into road side cabinets, cabling, commissioning and testing back to the clients back office facility. They are also responsible for the maintenance and fault repair of existing installations which includes the need to work on an on call rota.
They now require an experienced Electrical Technician or Electrician with 16th edition qualifications to undertake installation/testing and maintenance work.
The work is varied so a background as a plant electrician or some experience of installing computer Control systems would be helpful. You will need to pass the Metropolitan Police security clearance as you will be in regular contact with their technical control centre. They now require some Network Engineers to set up a complex WAN alongside the road side within designated areas. This will involve workshop testing and installation and commissioning of the network.
Part of the operations and maintenance department, successful candidates will be key personnel who can take the product from R&D and install the basic equipment or supervise the installation of the system. You will then commission individual sites, ultimately commissioning the complete system which will comprise of a number of sites, WAN connections via fibre, satellite, or 3G and a central database facility.
The roles will be based out of their Watford or Kidderminster service centres but will entail long periods working by the road side and sometimes at height. On successful rollout of the systems there will be an ongoing requirement to help with the maintenance and fault finding of the systems and feedback to R&D for future improvements.
