Development Engineer - Dual Fuel Engine Systems - Leyland

We are seeking a Development Engineer who will be based in Leyland and will assist in the development and application of Dual-Fuel™ (diesel and natural gas) engine systems, including powertrain calibration, software and hardware development.

Development activities in the UK will be initially vehicle-based, focusing on driveability and emissions calibration of heavy-duty trucks. As projects progress there will be a requirement to undertake the management of off-site heavy-duty powertrain development within the UK and Europe. In-house powertrain development activity is undertaken in San Diego and this role will require frequent travel to the USA to support this activity in addition to the UK/European product development.

The Development Engineer will also support software development activity, which uses Simulink® and Matlab® development tools. The role will require frequent liaison with customers, suppliers and OEM’s, so good communication skills are essential. You will also be responsible for delivering individual and team objectives with minimal supervision.

TO succeed as Development Engineer, you should be a qualified graduate engineer with experience in the development of electronically-controlled diesel engines. Ideally you should have good experience of powertrain and vehicle calibration, engine management system software (including CAN-based systems), application tools (ATI-Vision) and a strong interest in control software to complement your interests in diesel systems.

You will be self-motivated and eager to learn new technologies, working in a small team environment. You will be self-reliant and adaptable, willing to use to resources available to get the job done. You will enjoy traveling, meeting and working with people and solving problems.
