Our Client is a growing highly focused consultancy business specialising in strategy, regulation, policy and politics affecting the sustainable energy sector in the UK, and the impact of EU regulation and policy on the UK. They have grown to establish a range of clients with interests in all forms of sustainable energy energy efficiency, combined heat and power, renewable heat, electricity and transport, and the microgeneration sector.

Their small core team is supported by a wide network of associates.
They have an immediate vacancy for a further consultant / account manager to cover a wide range of strategy, and policy and political activity, all connected directly to the sustainable energy sector.
Your principle duties will include:
Obtaining an in-depth understanding of the regulatory, policy and political climate of interest to a range of clients, and assisting account managers in providing strategic advice to clients.
Monitoring of media, parliament, government, the EU institutions and the wider sustainable energy sector, for developments likely to be of key interest to clients.
Drafting of high quality reports on regulation and policy activity in the sustainable energy sector.
Research and drafting responses to government and other consultations on behalf of clients.
Design and implementation of engagement strategies to influence the development of regulation and policy, including:
Researching key facts and figures.
Preparing and presenting detailed briefings for MPs, MEPs and other key stakeholders.
Organising events , often in the House of Commons or Lords in partnership with MPs or Peers.
Leadership of and participation in various capacities with ad-hoc project teams, often working on a particular piece of research work / strategy advice for a client.
Lead authoring of project reports to clients
The ideal candidate for this post will:
Have a public affairs, politics, social policy, utilities, legal, engineering or building services background, with experience in the energy or environmental sectors. We are particularly interested in MPs' researchers looking for a natural next step in their career.
Be prepared to undertake frequent travel,
A further benefit would be another European language.
Experience of dealing with governments, regulators, utilities and other public policy opinion formers would also be an advantage.
