ENGINEERING CONSULTANCY
BASED LEICESTERSHIRE
Welding Engineers are now required to join this leading engineering consultancy in Loughborough. You will be joining the companys Safety and Integrity Management practice and the role will be spread across a number of work areas within the practice. It will present an excellent opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge through project work for a range of prestigious Oil and Gas clients throughout the world. Liaison with other teams and disciplines within the company such as flow assurance, metallurgy, coatings and engineering analysis will be required. The opportunity to work with our customers in the UK and overseas will give you the opportunity to travel.
As Welding Engineer your responsibilities will include developing and qualifying weld procedures in the Laboratory and field. You will carry out failure examinations on welds, witnessing and reporting on mechanical tests and impact testing as well as review technical bid documentation and summarise key information in relation to scope, welding and NDT requirements.
Ideally degree qualified in a Metallurgy/Materials related discipline, you will need experience in welding in the oil and gas industry or related industry such as chemical, rail or nuclear. Excellent communication skills including the ability to write clear and concise reports and give presentations; team working skills and time management skills and the ability to develop strong client relationships Flexibility to travel within the UK and overseas for various periods of time and ability to carry out desk based technical work is also required. Ideally you will have knowledge of the basic inspection techniques and their application to gas pipelines and process plant

As Welding Engineer your responsibilities will include developing and qualifying weld procedures in the Laboratory and field. You will carry out failure examinations on welds, witnessing and reporting on mechanical tests and impact testing as well as review technical bid documentation and summarise key information in relation to scope, welding and NDT requirements. You will also prepare technical qualifications; welding and NDT Philosophy documents; estimates for qualification of welding procedures and also prepare schedule for welding procedure qualification, AUT qualification and trial welds. You will identify the materials, welding and NDT documents to be produced for the project, allocate responsibilities and ensure documents are issued and updated as required and maintain Practice Project welding files at all times to ensure information is readily available to other practice members. The Welding Engineer will also ensure that records are maintained for all welding activities to demonstrate meeting all client requirements. Further responsibilities will also include preparing visit and technical reports, plus a full close out report to the current client standards. You will monitor work in progress (in the work shop/on site) and prepare man-hour estimate for project support for materials, welding and NDT. Furthermore you will calculate quantities of welding consumables necessary for a project.
