Description
Assystem work as a preferred supplier to a High Performance road car Manufacturer who is currently expanding its Engineering team. The Vehicle Development Manager will work within the department responsible for Prototype Build and Vehicle Test activities.
The Vehicle test and Development Manager will have responsibilities for Leadership of vehicle development activities and budgetary control of their section.
Role Dimensions: Will have direct Test Engineers reporting to them and be responsible

The Vehicle test and Development Manager will have responsibilities for Leadership of vehicle development activities and budgetary control of their section.
Role Dimensions: Will have direct Test Engineers reporting to them and be responsible for budgets within the department. Also a requirement to travel on occasion and flexibility in working hours.
Principal Accountabilities: Generate appropriate whole vehicle and rig test and development programmes to develop and validate engineering designs within new vehicle projects.
Deliver development programmes to agreed quality, budgets and timescales.
Maintain close internal working relationships with Divisional Managers and at Director level. Lead, motivate and develop a team of engineers.
Manage the overall performance of the engineering team ensuring regular feedback is given alongside the use of the company appraisal scheme and thereby identify training and development needs.
Apply detailed technical knowledge to the understanding of new technologies, development of engineering designs and resolution of engineering problems.
Specify and manage the contribution of specialist development partners and component suppliers
Work alongside a team of prototype technicians, offering support and guidance where needed. Visit off-site prototype workshop as and when required.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience: Experience of any or all of the following is an advantage:
olow volume, high performance vehicle programmes odelivery of whole vehicle development programmes, from concepts through to series production
oa broad range of vehicle and rig data acquisition, test and analysis techniques
oa broad range of industry proving grounds and technical partners.
Robust theoretical technical background (e.g. engineering degree 2.I or higher)
Personal Attributes: Hard-working, proactive, ambitious and self-motivated to deliver engineering excellence.
Excellent communication skills. Able to deliver information effectively to a variety of audiences.
Able to deliver presentations to board members. CVs are invited from highly competent individuals who are keen to work in a highly motivated and demanding environment.
