Our Client Require a Vehicle Systems Engineer
This role is located in South Wales or Gloucestershire
Purpose of Position

It is currently engaged on a number of UK and international programmes to deliver complex C4I, future network enabled capabilities and future platform programmes.
The business is looking for a number of key individuals to satisfy current and future project demands. Our Client operates a matrix organisation structure and as such, the individual will reside within the engineering functional discipline of Platform System Engineering. The function provides specific platform skill and knowledge to projects and the immediate position is within the FRES Project Team as a Senior Vehicle Systems Engineer, reporting directly to the Lead Vehicle Systems Engineer.
The successful candidate will be a key player within the vehicle system engineering team and will undertake platform requirements analysis, defining the capability and functional needs and assess system performance of the overall platform architecture. The ability to translate requirement into concept and concept into solution is paramount to this role. To achieve this, they will interact with subject matter experts from across the business to determine and agree the system architecture solution. The candidate must be a team player who is prepared to work with and influence a multi-national engineering team and the customer community to derive a balanced design solution.
Responsibilities
Perform requirements analysis tasks, compliance assessments and gap analyses across a range of technology areas
Support the definition and development of platform systemic attributes and physical architecture
Conduct engineering study and analysis in their given field of knowledge and expertise
Effectively communicate design options & constraints to a multi-disciplined team throughout all phases of the project
Prepare bid response material, collating engineering input from multiple sources for allocated areas of vehicle design
Perform concept design activities including dynamic mobility and survivability modeling
Prepare material for internal and external design reviews
Support critical design appraisals throughout the design and development life-cycle
Carry out viability assessments of competing technologies and systems
Prepare cost, programme and risk estimates for proposed engineering solutions
Provide concise briefings to engineering management team
Provide leadership of focused vehicle sub-system engineering teams
Education/Experience
ESSENTIAL
A relevant or associated degree from the primary disciplines of mechanical, materials, electrical, electronic or control systems engineering or equivalent experience
A proven track record in the development of platform principle sub-systems
Experience of engineering platform designs against performance and reliability targets
Experience of defining, evaluating and qualifying system designs from a set of requirements
Experience with the design and development of platforms from concept through to series production
Contemporary knowledge of existing and emerging technologies in the areas of automotive, survivability and vetronic systems
Ability to liaise with and present information to multi disciplined team members
Ability to interpret mechanical design requirements and propose appropriate design solutions
Hold or be capable of holding security clearance up to the level of SECRET
Willing to travel extensively within the UK and overseas
Excellent presentation, verbal and written skills
DESIRABLE:
A strong background in military vehicle systems engineering
Familiarity with current British Army tracked and wheeled vehicles
Knowledge of working within a multi-cultural and multi-lingual engineering team
Broad knowledge of standards and legislation applicable to military platforms
