Prestigious Automotive OEM based in Surrey urgently seeks a V5 Body Design Engineer for a rolling 6 month contract which could last many years.
Purpose of the Role:
Lead design, development and series introduction of Body Systems components
Principal Accountabilities:
- Chair cross functional design reviews.
- Deliver detailed design on time to pre-determined - quality, cost and weight targets.
- Integration and packaging of the specified Body System components to meet system and vehicle design
- Support and evaluate results of component testing
- Support prototype and production build
- Liaise with 1&2 tier Suppliers.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Experienced in OEM or tier one component delivery
Low volume less than 5,000 units per annum experience
Knowledge of complete body system design & engineering including manufacturing and assembly processes.
DFMEA input and implementation
Supplier communication and integration.
Design experience using Composite or Aluminium.
Design experience using Composite or Aluminium
Familiarity with structural analysis tools and methods.
Strong Catia V5 skills ( 2D/3D)
Delivery focused - with demonstrable track record of on-time delivery.
Capable of representing a world class automotive brand.
Capable of taking concept through detailed design to production
Adopts a creative and thoughtful approach to concept design and solving engineering problems based on system specification with good attention to detail
Mechanical or Automotive Engineering Degree 2:1 or above
