Our client is a leading provider of enterprise class data storage subsystems and network technology

Our client is looking for a development Test/Quality Engineer, with a mechatronic, electronics/software background, who will undertake Product Assurance testing and Quality Assurance investigations related to high value Electro-mechanical test equipment used within the hard disk drive manufacturing industry.

Working with the development team the candidate will be expected to carry out installation and prototype/full system testing of new components and software to a derived Test Procedure/Plan. In addition, investigation and validation of field quality issues may be required. A written Test Report including analysed data and recommended actions is expected.

Travel to the SE Asia manufacturing facility and customer locations in the USA and Asia is highly likely.

Specific Responsibilities include:-
- Testing of hardware and software to prepared test plans
- Investigation of equipment faults and failures, and the progression of their subsequent resolution
- The development of scripts and programs for the testing and analysis of software and system functions
- Use of bespoke and commercial software tools and utilities running under Windows and Linux
- Test bed equipment periodic upgrade and maintenance
- Report writing and internal customer communications
- Input to, and creation of, new requirement test plans and procedures
- Technical liaison with Development, Test Engineering and field service counterparts in the USA and Asia.
- Provision of clear and regular status on the testing activity and investigations undertaken and highlighting of any potential test schedule impacts.

The position is within the Product Assurance and Test Department, of the Storage Infrastructure, Research and Development Team.

The ideal candidate will have:-
- Degree in a relevant engineering discipline, balanced with relevant experience, likely to be at least 3 years.
- Experience of testing Electro-mechanical products, experiences gained in Product Development, test, service, or test house environments.
- Familiarity with Python scripting and Linux would be desirable.
- A tenacious attitude towards fault diagnosis
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. An extremely positive attitude towards working as part of a team, confident in working with new people at all levels
- An attitude of continuous improvement and a desire to develop a high quality product is essential.
- Ability to prioritise and co-ordinate activities while working under pressure to meet strict deadlines
- Prepared to travel abroad if required.
