Test & Repairs Manager - Dorset/South Coast - required for Electronics Company - salary from £27k depending on experience.

Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager, the main aim of the job is to provide test and test engineering facilities for the Production and Repairs departments. Managing the ATE facility and liaising with customers on test strategies is the key to the success of the position

Responsible for : Test
Managing, maintaining and programming of the production ATE facility
Providing technical and engineering expertise to the Manufacturing Services
Becoming the customer focal point for all production test activities
Implementing a cost reduction process and producing performance measures
Producing and maintaining a training matrix. Identifying formal and informal training requirements to meet current and future demands. Organising internal, external and on-the-job training.
Maintaining appropriate discipline and behaviour within the department
Investigating, identifying and implementing new lean manufacturing initiatives such as Kanban, cell manufacturing, 5s.
Identifying the need for cost effective capital equipment.
Ensure shop floor and test/repairs area kept clean at all times.
Providing a test estimating function to the Manufacturing Services CBU and providing an analysis of estimated versus actual times
Designing/producing special to type test jigs for the Manufacturing Services CBU
Writing PTS's for the Manufacturing Services CBU
Ensuring all anti-static facilities are maintained in accordance with Company procedures
Managing the environmental, heat-stress and soak test facility.
Ensuring all soldering irons are maintained in accordance with Company procedures
Controlling Production's programming stations/test adapters
Maintaining and controlling production test jigs
Carrying out technical investigations for the Manufacturing Services CBU
Managing the Company calibration system
Managing the Electrical Safety checking acti

Responsible for the general management of the Company's electrical installations.
Repairs:
Ensure day to day running of Repairs department - including internal customer liaison, internal support to the test department, external customer liaison and the adherence to internal Repairs department SLA's.
Monthly and quarterly production of departmental performance statistics and reports - and work towards continuous improvement of results therein
Development (and then subsequent maintenance) of customer database - to accurately record current customer processes, terms, contacts and so on
Production of terms with each repairs customer - by customer review meeting.
Quarterly customer review meeting
Design and completion of annual repairs questionnaire - including production of quantifiable management information as a result (and in addition documented evidence of improvements made as a direct result of feedback received).
Supervision, training and development of Repairs Supervisor.
Ongoing work towards continuous improvement of Repairs processes.
Development of relationships with internal customers
Development of three way relationship between customer, Account Manager, and Repairs/test department.

Skills & Experience:
Degree, or equivalent, in electronics or related subject.
Proven track record within a medium to high volume electronics manufacturing environment.
Experience of functional testing of printed circuit boards and electro-mechanical units.
Technical knowledge/ability to interpret test and repairs specifications.
Experience of process improvement through implementing Lean Manufacturing/Six Sigma techniques.
Possesses drive and determination to implement change.
Experience of working with quality standards such as ISO 9001/2000 and ISO 14001.
