To act as the Senior Engineer with responsibility for the High Level Design, Specification and successful delivery of an integrated Management System for the Baseband Elements of a major Defence Satellite Communications programme.
Telecom Management Engineer
To act as the Senior Engineer with responsibility for the High Level Design, Specification and successful delivery of an integrated Management System for the Baseband Elements of a major Defence Satellite Communications programme.
The Baseband Elements support Serial, IP, Telephony and ATM Communication Services.
The successful candidate will be expected to operate with the minimum of supervision from the Engineering Manager for the Baseband and Cryptographic Segment of the project.
Outline duties for the role include (but are not limited to):
Determine the High Level Design including how the Baseband Management System fits into the Overall Management System being developed for this programme.
Define Technical and Statement of Work Requirements for the design, implementation, integration and supply of the Baseband Management System. These requirements will be placed on a supplier to fulfil.
Review and Agree Technical Solution produced in response to the Requirements definition activity above. This activity will include VV&T aspects.
Work with the supplier through Technical Progress Meetings to ensure successful delivery of the Baseband Management System.
Propose, Develop and Implement Baseband Management Solutions to support the delivery of Communications Service though the use of industry standard management tools.
Qualifications and/or Skills
Essential:
Experience of Telecommunication Network Management Architectures and tools within a Telecoms Operator environment, including one or more of:
Management of Nortel Passport ATM switches
Management of Meridian PABXs
Management of Cisco routers
IBM NetCool (including OMNIBUS, PROVISO, PRECISION)
The candidate must hold current UK SC clearance.
Desirable:
Engineering Graduate. Use of DOORS Requirement
Capture/Management tools. Sub-Team Management
Previous Experience
Essential:
Experience of Telecom/Communication System Network
Management. At least two years of this experience to have been obtained within a Telecoms Operator.
Desirable:
Knowledge/Experience of Satellite Communications and/or
Military Communications Systems. Engineering Management of small teams including external suppliers.
Successful candidates will be required to be security cleared prior to appointment.
