Permanent Technical Superintendent Required to be based in Aberdeen.

Responsibilities
• Operate and maintain the ships, in a safe, economic and efficient way, to the satisfaction of both the owners and the customers.
• Methods and resources used shall be according to the established policy, SMS manuals, approved budgets, and according to the established QHSE policy.
• Report to Fleet Manager if above mentioned cannot be met.
Budget cost control
• Prepare and present to fleet manager budgets for approval
• Approve use of resources and monitor costs involving the vessels
• Provide reports regarding costs, repairs and vessel technical status in order to advise vessel owners enabling them to manage their vessels effectively.
Technical
• Make sure that the vessels are in high quality technical standard according to the company policy, and make sure that the vessels satisfy the standard expected and described in contracts between customers and the organisation.
• Control and assist the vessel with relevant Rules, Regulations, Codes and Guidelines and ensure that Statutory and Classification surveys for all plant and equipment on his vessels are carried out.
• Check class status, (at least on a monthly basis)
• Investigate, identify and carry out needed actions to avoid offhire or any other operational interruptions in the planned activity for the vessel. (Preventive operation/maintenance)
• Liase, negotiate and supervise dry-docking of vessels ensuring the process is co-ordinated effectively by involving vessel staff, fleet manager, yards and Management's departments, advising all of status and progress. Prepare dry-docking specifications, elicit and evaluate quotations and recommend shipyards. Ensure they are carried out correctly and comply with budgets and time limits and also to Statutory, Class and Company satisfaction. On completion, prepare docking reports.
• Collate information and costs and prepare project specifications and budgets for vessel conversion, as requested by vessel Owners or according to Charterer requirements
• If any major breakdown occurs, provide spares, service engineers and if needed supervise, to make the repair carried out as quick and economic as possible. If insurance is involved, contact and inform the insurance company, produce documentation and reports needed for the final insurance settlement.
• Carry out Annual technical inspection of vessels, in accordance with ISM requirements.
Operation
• Day to day co-ordination between the management/fleet manager, the vessel and clients.
• Liaise with vessels on a regular basis to ensure their activities are being co-ordinated effectively, and provide advice and guidance to Master and Engineers onboard.
• Initiate and conduct investigations into operational difficulties, proposing and implementing cost effective solutions.
• Stimulate to experience transfer from vessel.
Crewing
• Evaluate and report to Fleet Manager the total performance of the ships crew.
• Evaluate the need for courses and training for the crew.
• Contribute together with the management to develop a skilled, loyal and motivated crew.
• Be involved/informed when officers are promoted or employed.
QHSE
• Safety Management System: Comply fully the requirements in the Management System.
• QHSE Activities:
• Follow up on audits an ensure they are being closed.
• Investigate and follow up incident/accident reports from the vessels.
• Follow up issues from PEC meetings on board and ensure feedback to the vessels.
• Analyse off-hire and technical breakdowns and recommend corrective actions.
• Actively take part in QHSE meetings and programs.
• Review Vessel Management Reviews and ensure feedback to vessels and Management Review.
• QHSE plan: Comply fully.
Personal
Vessel managers shall keep themselves updated about new technology/information as relevant for their vessels, and attend courses as follows;
• QHSE Management training courses: Attend as required by the Company.
• Maritime, Technical courses and seminars: Attend as required by the Company..
