R&D and Quality-driven manufacturing organisation and the Worlds largest and most highly-regarded supplier & developer of precious metal-based process catalysts and catchment gauzes with a core application in the Nitric Acid (HNO3) production sector - a major global industry that is fundamental to most fertilizers.
A sustained period of commercial growth has recently been considerably accelerated as the result of an innovative new ancillary product which dramatically reduces the level of greenhouse emissions (N20) that have, until recently, been an unavoidable consequence of HNO3 production. This product has already achieved a 50% global share of this new but important environmental technology market, driven by the changing worldwide attitudes that have led to the Kyoto Protocol.
The role has a wide-ranging brief that is based at the Companys largest UK site on the Herts./Cambs. border, but will also involve regular international travel including direct, business-generating and technical solution-providing customer interface. Line management responsibility is for a team of technical sales specialists who play a key role in the development of new & existing business relationships by providing an effective blend of commercial orientation and high-level technical credibility (product technology as well as end-user processes & applications). This expertise and market knowledge is made available to all areas of the business internally, but most importantly to the Companys customers and sales resources
This may be provided directly, through on-hand technical support for field sales personnel, or as a result of ongoing training initiatives focused on developing technical self-confidence within the sales force globally.
Responsibilities naturally broaden to influence all business and technical links between the Companys core technology and its HNO3 and related markets, including the leadership of customer-led R&D and QA projects and the development of people, teams and processes that are able to deliver truly World Class service & performance.
The successful candidate will therefore combine a proven track record in a customer-facing business environment with a strong, relevant technical background, together with the following credentials:
A Degree (or equivalent level of qualification) in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Engineering/Metallurgy
Advanced understanding of large-scale chemical processing environments, ideally but not necessarily including HNO3.
Commercial outlook with strong, proactive planning & organisational skills.
The ability to inspire & engage at all levels... shopfloor to senior management.
A motivator & communicator who naturally creates a sense of confidence.
Believes in modern Continuous Improvement philosophies.
