Lead Engineer required to work on a ground breaking new product for a world renowned Tier 1 automotive supplier.
Lead Development Engineer.
> Leadership and execution of product development activities
> Determine development and validation plans.
> Direct development engineers.
> Work with the Lead Designer to further develop concepts / detailed drawings for product applications or components.
Responsibilities
The person in this position will be responsible to:
> Lead the design, development and validation of a new generation product through vision of customer/company requirements and the use of innovative concepts that provide competitive advantage in performance, cost and quality.
> Drive development & design changes that assure the program meets cost, DFM, performance and timing goals.
> When necessary develop new validation & development test procedures.
> Apply ICIM methods using DOE's, 6 Sigma, Green Y and other statistical tools to achieve product robustness. (Training will be provided to fill current gaps in experience level)
> Participate in Program Project reviews and design reviews.
> Develop and present technical presentations to company customers and others on new or current programs.
> Facilitate fast and accurate two-way communication with design and process engineers to assure robust design and flawless launch objectives.
> Problem solving - apply a methodical and logical approach to problem solving based on fundamental engineering principals.
> Participate in team orientated activities engage support from outside of the team where necessary to ensure team objectives are met.
Qualifications & Experience
> Significant post graduate experience in component engineering design and development - preferably within the automotive industry.
> Personal strengths should include: Confidence, self-directed, goal oriented, customer focused, with strong team interaction skills that facilitate cross-functional involvement.
> Must understand and apply physics to the design and development of product.
> Excellent communication skills are essential. Will need to be able to communicate via reports, memos and presentations.
> DOE and statistical analysis knowledge is a plus. (Training to be provided if this is a gap)
> Must be able to constructively deal with conflict situations.
> Must be willing to travel for training, work with customers and for problem resolution on projects as necessary.
