An excellent opportunity is available for a Team Leader within Computing Services for this large defence company based at Harlow in Essex, South England, or a Scottish applicant could be based at Glenrothes in Fife, Scotland. The IT&S Computing Services team provide best in class server and desktop solutions, ensuring high availability of services and associated data. The role of Team Leader is responsible for leading the definition, management and provision of enterprise-wide computing infrastructure, ensuring that system availability and performance are maximised in an effective and cost efficient manner.
Skills
- Excellent understanding of Windows enterprise environment.
- Through knowledge of: Active Directory; all Windows servers & current client operating environments; application packaging, distribution and patching in a Windows environment.
- Thorough knowledge of virtualisation products.
- Appreciation of IT security issues and technologies.
- Understanding of IT / Systems Engineering disciplines, including: requirements management; configuration management; change control; reliability analysis; and quality management
- In depth knowledge of project management techniques and practices planning, tracking and reporting;
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
Experience
- Educated to degree level or equivalent, plus extensive practical experience or equivalent capability experience.
- General knowledge of wide range of IT technologies and activities, with specific knowledge of at least two or more technology fields.
- Use of formal systems delivery methodologies.
- Experience of leading provision of business critical systems infrastructure and services within a large organisation.
- Extensive knowledge of Windows AD and client-server environments.
- Thorough understanding of desktop virtualisation, remote support and virtualisation techniques and strategies in the server space.
- Experience in demanding customer focused role
