TEAM LEADER EXCITATION CONTROL SYSTEMS

We are seeking a Team Leader Excitation Control Systems to work in Rugby leading a team of design engineers responsible for the design of all types of excitation, synchronising and protection equipment for synchronous motors and generators, for both general industry and the utilities.
You will be responsible for leading the project engineering, tendering, development and testing activities associated with excitation control systems, setting up, testing and occasional commissioning of analogue and digital control systems, providing technical liaison with both suppliers and customers and providing technical advice and investigations in support of factory, site or warranty issues. This role will also involve the provision of technical support for the Sales function and taking responsibility for the adherence to the Health and Safety requirements of working in company laboratories and test facilities and the facilities of both suppliers and customers.
As Team Leader Excitation Control Systems you should be degree qualified in Electrical and Electronic Engineering or equivalent, with Chartered Engineer status desirable but not essential. You should have experience in the design, application and commissioning of excitation systems, including static and digital systems and have a background in power electronics and small system electronics, including closed loop control. Experience in the use of PLCs and knowledge of generator and motor protection would be a distinct advantage.
A flexible approach to your duties and working hours is essential and you must also be prepared to travel. You will need strong and convincing communication skills, excellent organisation and planning skills as well as a proactive attitude, good leadership qualities, and the ability to work on your own initiative as well as in a team.
