Team Leader - Computing Services - Reporting to the Head of IT Technical Services, with responsibility for all aspects of company enterprise-wide computing infrastructure.
Responsibilities include:
Assist in development of IT business systems strategy and architecture; lead the setting and implementation of company computing strategy, including:
Data centre management; Server virtualisation; High availability services; Data management; Desktop standardisation; Applications hosting; Change management across the company enterprise-wide computing estate.
Delivery of consistent standards based computing services and resources to company functions / businesses, through provision of best in class, centrally served and managed computing solutions.
Deliver a robust computing service to company to key performance metrics: availability; performance; ease of service integration; ease of service integration; market competitive TCO.
Lead and champion an agenda of service consolidation and standardisation through the definition and implementation of robust, repeatable processes and services, with the aim of driving down the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) of IT across the company.
Define and lead the delivery of expanded computing service capabilities in support of the company's growth strategies. Seamlessly integrate capabilities with current infrastructures and services.
Work with, and lead, IT&S teams to ensure effective delivery projects in accordance with common company processes (including IPDS in IT), procedures and architecture, on time and to budget to meet the company, customer ad security requirements.
Work with IT&S and functional / business management to prioritise and manage the IT project / support portfolio. Provide expertise and input in to project prioritisation and workload forecasting.
Champion and assist in the ongoing development of common IT&S processes and standards, including IPDS in IT.
Frequent visits to other company sites, customer/partners

Education and Experience
Essential
Educated to degree level or equivalent, plus extensive practical experience or equivalent capability / experience. General knowledge of wide range of IT technologies and activities, with specific knowledge of at least two or more technology fields. Use of formal systems delivery methodologies.
Experience of leading provision of business critical systems infrastructure and services within a large organisation. Extensive knowledge of Windows AD and client-server environments. Thorough understanding of desktop virtualisation, remote support and virtualisation techniques and strategies in the server space. Experience in demanding customer focused roles.
Desirable
Formal project management qualification / training (eg. Prince2). Six Sigma qualified (or equivalent).
Experiences of supporting major applications package implementations within a geographical disperse user community. Proven project management capabilities and skills. Initiating and maintaining configuration management procedures
Skills
Excellent understanding of Windows enterprise environment. Through knowledge of: Active Directory; all Windows servers & current client operating environments; application packaging, distribution and patching in a Windows environment. Thorough knowledge of virtualisation products. Appreciation of IT security issues and technologies. Understanding of IT / Systems Engineering disciplines, including: requirements management; configuration management; change control; reliability analysis; and quality management. In depth knowledge of project management techniques and practices - planning, tracking and reporting; Excellent written and oral communication skills.
