Description
Job purpose:
The Tank System Design Services is a multi disciplined team working closely with the MoD on post design solutions and modifications for CR2, CrARRV, Engineering Vehicles and related support equipment and publications.
Reporting to the TSDS Project Manager the Team Leader will be responsible for coordinating the PM team in their development of Design and Development solutions to a range of tasks authorised by the MoD.
The team leader will be responsible for reporting team progress to all parties and monitoring costs to ensure project budgets are accurately predicted and margins maintained.
Key responsibility areas:
1. Assist with the Project Management of all aspects of the team, supervising their planning and
monitoring budgetary control of tasks using BAES business project management tools.
2. Ensuring the team maintain and update a control mechanism to inform the customer regarding
task progress.
3. When required, represent BAE Systems as Design Authority for platforms, derivatives and support
equipment.
4. Supervise the team in their co-ordination of sub-contractors.
5. Supervise the team in their Investigation of the implications of design problems arising in the
development, production and service use of Platforms, Derivatives and support equipment.
6. Assist with the production of CSR reports and where required present these reports at review
meetings.
7. Ensure that the team follow procedures dictated by the TSDS Contract Quality Plan, Safety Plan
and the relevant BAES Quality System Procedures.
8. Monitor team core skills and supervise their training and development.
9. Liaise with UK MoD and represent BAES at technical committees.
10. Provide assistance, and deputize for the Project Manager when required in the formulation of
development cost plans and networks for major task designs.
11. Ensure task information is reviewed on a monthly basis and represent BAE Systems at formal Task Reviews with the customer.
12. Represent TSDS at Customer Safety reviews.
13. Co ordinate and review the reporting of the PM teams task costing mechanism.
Additional information:
The ideal candidate shall show the following attributes:
1. A good technical understanding of the operational and engineering functionality of Cr2, CrARRV,
ETS, derivatives and support equipment.
2. Excellent Report writing, project planning and control utilizing office skills such Microsoft Word,
Excel, Access and Project.
3. A good understanding of Project financial requirements including control of budgets, prediction of
project margins and sales forecasting.
4. A good Knowledge of MoD organisations and publications.
5. Be self motivated and be able to work with the minimum of supervision within a team environment.
6. Have a good working knowledge of the SAP business system.
