The Individual
You will be educated to at least degree standing, preferably in computer science, information technology or geographical sciences. The successful applicant will be expected to apply this academic expertise in multiple sectors, so a proven track record of applied IT / GIS skills and an awareness of current affairs in the wider GIS market is also essential.
You will have at least eight years experience in GIS, at least three of these in a management and project management role.
Requirements
• Detailed practical knowledge of other standard GIS software platforms, from desktop and web-based applications to enterprise systems
• Working knowledge of Microsoft development technologies (VB.net, Visual Studio, SQL server, ASP.Net 2.0)
• Web technologies (XML, HTML, AJAX technologies)
The following management skills are essential;
• Team leadership, staff motivation and mentoring junior developers
• Product support, product planning, or consulting environment
• Business development skills and experience
• Financial management experience and keenness to be involved in the commercial side of the business
• Excellent communication and report writing skills to both technical and senior executive level
• Project management skills are essential, Prince 2 desirable
• Knowledge of current EU and UK GI policy, guidance and practice in Local and Central Government sectors
• Excellent analytical, problem solving, and creative thinking skills
• Support at trade shows and business partner conferences
Responsibilities
The successful applicant will be directly responsible for;
• Growing the business further, by identifying and realising opportunities within Capita, Capita Symonds and externally
• Taking a lead role in projects
• Technical product development
• Mentoring and developing junior software developers
