Description
My client, a top Systems Engineering & Programme Management consultancy, is after an experienced nuclear systems safety engineer/consultant with a sound working knowledge of reactor safety processes and standards and/or nuclear weapons safety processes and standards. Needs to demonstrate capability to undertake a wide range of analyses and assessments in a project or programme environment.
Have a good working knowledge and experience of the IAEA safety processes and nuclear safety assessment principles.
Possess an understanding of Safety Management Plans and Safety Management Systems, through Preliminary Hazard Analyses, and System Hazard Analyses and the analysis techniques involved, to delivering completed Safety Cases.
Responsibilities will include:
-Undertaking nuclear safety management activities and assessments
-Reporting progress to line manager and the Safety Capability Manager.
Essential skills required:
-Good electronic/electrical engineering degree
-Chartered Engineer i.e. a corporate member of IEE, etc., but the equivalent in actual experience would also be considered
-Experience of preparing Safety Management Systems and Safety Management Plans
-Safety assessments throughout the project life cycle
-Preparation and construction of Safety Cases including the key safety arguments
-Experience of preparing Safety Case Reports
-Good knowledge of Def Stan 00-56 Issue 3, JSP 430, JSP 454, JSP 553, JSP 520, and Mil Std 882C/D would be expected
-Experience of Safety work on Defence projects in a variety of roles
-Ability to write clear, coherent and logical reports in good English is also essential
-Liaison and ability to communicate effectively at meetings with customers
-Five years working experience in the Safety discipline. Would be prepared to considered less experience but it is unlikely less than three years working experience would be accepted.
