Excellent opportunities for Systems Engineers/Consultants within an Intelligent Transport Systems team now exist in either Essex or Surrey. Reporting to a Project Manager you will have the opportunity to co-ordinate a team of professionals on work relating to all aspects of multimodal traveller information and traffic control systems. This will include traffic signals design, real-time passenger information, electronic information displays and motorway communications systems.
You will be a key player in the team providing an integrated technology network management, maintenance, renewal and improvement service for the technologies associated with the strategic motorway and trunk road network. This is a growing area of the business with promising career prospects and opportunity for progression. You will be responsible for assessing engineering problems and consulting with technical experts, as necessary, to develop cost effective and robust solutions together with offering new ideas to improve solutions and processes. You will also be required to liaise with other technical disciplines and clients as required and develop knowledge of the commercial aspects of project management.
Ideally qualified to degree level in Electrical/Electronic Engineering/ Science/IT related discipline or an appropriate alternative, you will be working towards Chartership status and hold a full UK Driving Licence. As Systems Engineer/ Consultant, experience of working in electrical or information systems design and/or installation is essential as is a thorough knowledge and experience of UK regulations, requirements and practice, including CDM and DMRB. Experience of working within a partnering consortium would be advantageous as would an understanding of the ITS industry within the Highways Agency and Local Authority business sector.
