Position: Systems Engineer Mechanical Integration
Location: Dorset
A large aerospace OEM are looking for permanent systems engineers. Systems engineers will be working on equipment that incorporates mechanical equipment onto existing airframes from around the globe. As such a background of mechanical design and more recent systems experience would be ideal.
The ideal experience will be with fuel systems within an aerospace environment, however other fluid systems including landing gear, hydraulics, pnuematics and the like would be of great interest. The package has some flexibility for ideal candidates. The company offers a long term future with a strong order book and brand new facilities being constructed.
Examples of ideal backgrounds are fuel, oxygen, hydraulic or pneumatic systems.
Depending on experience responsibilities will be allocated on a task or work package basis. A typical list of activities includes the following:
* Preparation of technical estimates for non-recurring costs and manpower requirements
* Bid support and preparation of Technical Proposals
* Requirements capture, validation and definition of verification strategy
* Definition of system architecture
* Allocation of requirements to sub-systems and components
* Preparation of Specifications and other project documentation
* Risk management
* Technical management of external suppliers
* Liaison with customers, internal and external
* Liaison with specialists such as design, performance and ILS engineers
* Liaison with other internal departments such as Product Support and Operations
For the mechanically biased roles a good understanding of solid and fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, electrical technology, control engineering and airworthiness standards will be required. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Project is needed. Experience of a Requirements Management tool such as DOORS or CRADLE is highly desirable, as is Six Sigma training.
