Description

To be responsible for:
Conducting model-based design studies to support the definition, validation and verification of requirements for landing gears and associated systems.
The work will also include support to the safety engineers through modelling and simulation.
This task will require close liaison and co-ordination with similar activities Trans-Nationally across the company.

The successful candidate will be able to:
Demonstrate a good understanding of dynamical system modelling: subjects including Control, Mechanics, Hydraulics and Electronics.
Build, validate and execute simulation models based on the captured needs of the design engineers.
Handle and manipulate large quantities of technical data, and produce technical reports.
Demonstrate the competencies required at the Advanced Professional operating level, as well as a sound understanding of system engineering processes and activities.
Demonstrate strong team working and communication skills, and to show a high regard for internal and external customers, whilst maintaining aircraft integrity as the overriding principle.

Knowledge of the application of modelling techniques throughout the design life cycle and an understanding of aircraft production methods and processes is essential.
Experience of standard tools (e.g. MSC.ADAMS, Matlab, Simulink, etc.) would be beneficial, although training will be provided.

Essential:
Degree in numerate subject
Specifically Mathematics and Dynamics modelling.
Engineering Discipline.
Excellent knowledge of mathematics.
Good knowledge of ADAMS or Matlab/Simulink.
Advanced knowledge of mechanics and hydraulics
Advanced knowledge of mechanics or control
Previous industrial experience.
Delivery of work conducted with hard timescales.
Understanding of system engineering processes.
Understand of Validation and Verification processes

Preferred:
Technical programming
Understanding aircraft operations.
Ability to handle large quantities of data.
Physical structure modelling (CATIA)
Knowledge of Aircraft Industry.
