One of our key defence clients requires an experienced systems engineer to join their in-house design team.
To maintain the design integrity of the platform through the application of management techniques across all technical disciplines and associated processes through the products life cycle from customer requirement capture, product definition, manufacture/ procurement / build , test, qualification/ certification to delivery.
The successful candidate is likely to be a key individual in major contract or area of activity.
May have a supervisory role of a small team of professionally qualified individuals.
Professional, financial and business judgement required in role.
Job Purpose
Working as part of a multi-disciplined team, the system engineer will be involved in the qualification phase of the product lifecycle.
Key Area of Responsibility
- Undertake general systems engineering activities throughout engineering lifecycle
- Support design certification
- Deliver to agreed performance targets
- Using technical expertise to solve problems and generate ideas within the team
Academic Qualification
- Educated to degree level (flexibility for the right type of individual)
- Experience gained in associated technical discipline organisation
- Good experience within systems engineering
Essential Skills
- Ability to think at the systems level; ability/flexibility to support all stages of the systems engineering/project lifecycle; technical problem solving.
Desirable Skills
- Experience of working with requirements engineering tools (DOORS),
- Mathematical analysis tools (Matlab/Simulink),
- System design tools (MODAF/UML);
- Experience gained within system design/system architectures
- Knowledge of EW systems and domain.
Experience
- Self motivated team player capable of working with minimum direction.
- Execution of systems engineering process, including requirements management, systems analysis/design, system integration and test acceptance.
- Preparation of systems documentation, including system requirement specifications, system architecture specifications, system design specifications, system test plans, system test specifications.
