Systems Engineer
To provide Software & Process development support to this Division of this major Defence player, initially starting within Fast Jet programmes.
This job will involve learning how DOORS is used on the various programmes and gradually picking up responsibility for supporting DOORS use on these programmes. A key part of the role will be modifying processes after consultation with company users or customer (IPT), and developing Software utilities to support the modifications along with all required documentation. Provision of day-to-day DOORS system support will also be required.
Challenges:
To rapidly get up to speed with current complex processes.
To identify areas where process improvements should be made.
To develop robust, reliable software that not only functions correctly but which also helps assure safety, is user friendly, meets external and internal quality standards, can easily be maintained, updated and modified.
To maintain the user documentation (MS Word and Web based) to accompany the processes.
To train users in the processes.
Ensure that software produced performs reliably to meet the user's functional needs and other requirements that may be agreed as part of the tasking.
Ensure that software development processes employed comply with internal quality standards aligned to ISO 9001 and TickIT.
Elicit and record clear unambiguous user and system requirements.
Write and document new software programs.
Plan, organise and conduct software testing.
Providing support to users in the use of the software including training to groups and individuals alike.
Provide feedback to customer (IPT) in the form of presentations and written reports.

You will need a formal qualification at Degree level in Software Engineering or Computer Science (or equivalent knowledge gained through practical work experience); experience using Telelogic DOORS and DXL; Software development, preferably in C. Experience of Scripting languages will also be considered. You will also need a level of oral and written English skills and questioning skills sufficient to ensure that communications are clear, precise and unambiguous; effective team working skills; good organising skills and good attention to detail.
The role will be based in Wiltshire and is commutable from Devizes, Salisbury, Andover and Warminster.
