Systems Engineer(s) are required to join a growing System Engineering department of this leading defence organisation based in Bedfordshire. Flexibility on skills will open this position to a trained individual who may have worked in a Defence organisation. Working as part of a multi-disciplined team, the system engineer will be involved at every phase of the product lifecycle from requirement to design and integration, and will have an enviable overview of the product as it evolves through to delivery to the customer.

Flexibility on skills will open this position to a trained individual who may have worked in a Defence organisation. Working as part of a multi-disciplined team, the system engineer will be involved at every phase of the product lifecycle from requirement to design and integration, and will have an enviable overview of the product as it evolves through to delivery to the customer.
Key responsibilities include the following but could vary depending on skills:- undertake requirements capture & management. Manage the functional design & responsibility for significant systems design decisions and sub-system level analysis tasks. Undertake & lead general systems engineering activities including requirements, systems analysis/design, integration and test & acceptance. Work with customers & suppliers. Manage changes to the solution/ design and communicate changes/issues. Using technical expertise to solve problems and generate ideas. Support bid preparation & work closely with other key members i.e. Business development, Bids/Commercial, Procurement, Project management etc.
You will be ideally Degree qualified but relevant experience is more important. Experience gained within System Development across the full lifecycle within a defence/aerospace environment. Ideally knowledge of airborne military platforms, their EW systems and their operation & application in the EW domain. The ability to understand and work with common communication standards and protocols, including 1553B, RS-422 and RS-485. Knowledge of other links (including discrete interfaces) is also desirable. Detailed understanding of electro-optic systems (e.g. MWS, DIRCM).
You must be able to think at the systems level. Ability/flexibility to support all stages of the systems engineering/project life-cycle. A good at technical problem solving, quick learning, able to absorb and quickly understand new information.
