Our Client is seeking a Systems Engineer capable of filling a Senior Consultant or Principal Consultant position within their Defence Division reporting to the Systems Business Manager.

The role will:
Focus on products and services related to soldier systems, but may also include other areas within the defence sector.

Systems Engineer

Our Client is seeking a Systems Engineer capable of filling a Senior Consultant or Principal Consultant position within their Defence Division reporting to the Systems Business Manager.

The role will:
Focus on products and services related to soldier systems, but may also include other areas within the defence sector.
Provide systems engineering support covering the complete system life cycle. This will range from research projects aimed at concept development and elaboration, through to development and delivery of products and systems.
Integrate soldier systems to support the coherent delivery of capability.
Define, conduct and report evaluations, demonstrations, testing and trials of concepts, prototypes, equipments and systems.
Assist in business development activities by contributing to proposal documents and providing support to the Division's Business Development function.
Promote the company brand and reputation in accordance with the marketing strategy.
The jobholder will be expected to work individually and within a multi-disciplinary team environment to achieve programme results and customer deliverables in a timely and accurate manner.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Essential
A first degree or equivalent in an electrical/ electronic or software engineering discipline, physics or mathematics
Experience of systems engineering/ systems development of products or systems comprising electronic hardware with embedded software
Demonstrable engineering experience within soldier systems
Experience of Task/ Project Management
A good knowledge and understanding of MoD procurement and support processes
Experience of the full system lifecycle (requirements definition, design, development, test, acceptance)
Capable of demonstrating understanding of design issues relating to complex systems, or system of systems
Experience of using a recognised method or technique for systems analysis and design (e.g. MODAF, UML, SysML)
Experience of architecture modelling and/ or requirements analysis
Experience of using operational analysis in support of system definition
Ability to manage allocated budget and resources to meet agreed milestones and deliverables
Capable of managing medium sized systems engineering activities.
Ability to communicate with the MODand related organisations at all levels
Ability to liaise with customers and subcontractors on technical issues relating to systems engineering and system design
Experience of working to ISO 9001:2000 standards
Competent user of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project

Desirable
Hold a second degree or be a Chartered Engineer
Experience of systems engineering/ systems development of products or systems that support the delivery of C4I and/ or ISTAR capability
Experience of systems engineering/ systems development of soldier lethality systems, or of performance of research into lethality
Experience of systems engineering/ systems development of products or systems that support survivability, or of performance of research into survivability
Experience of systems engineering/ systems development of products or systems that support the sustainment of capability, or of performance of research into sustainability
Experience of the application of the PRINCE2 methodology


The successful Candidate will be:
A good communicator (verbal and presentation skills, reporting, customer relations).
Able to quickly gain respect for sound technical judgement from both external and internal customers.
Team worker but able to work alone if required.
Flexible (prepared to support several projects at the same time and to refocus effort at short notice).
Adaptable (not restricted to a specialised field but prepared to develop into new technical areas).
Able to work to agreed deadlines and deliver products to specified quality standards.
Willing and able to visit customers/ suppliers and undertake occasional work at other locations in the UK and abroad.
Be able to set and maintain high personal standards and encourage staff to do likewise by setting a good example at all times.
Be ambitious and enthusiastic to pursue a rewarding career within the opportunities offered by an expanding company.

You should also:
Be willing to conduct field activities in support of contracted programmes
Be able to drive and have a current driving licence
